VA Must Face Transgender Electrician’s Sex Discrimination Claims

The Department of Veterans Affairs must defend a transgender woman’s sex discrimination claim, after a district court ruled that her superiors’ negative comments may have contributed to denied promotions.

Former US Marine Sherri Sickels was able to show that past negative comments by some of her superiors in charge of hiring and promotions may have played a factor in her being denied at least two promotions, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri ruled, sending the claim to trial.
