A veterans’ assistance organization that helps disabled veterans secure federal benefits will forgo collecting $6.8 million in debt to resolve a fraud lawsuit from the state of Texas, Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Friday.
VA Claims Insider LLC marketed its services as free but charged customers six times the amount of any disability increase they received from the US Department of Veterans Affairs, Paxton alleged in a 2023 lawsuit.
The organization also misrepresented its cancellation procedures as well as its relationship to its recommended medical provider, Paxton said.
