Car dealership service provider V12 Software Inc. failed to protect the personal information of tens of thousands people that was exposed in a recently announced data breach, a proposed federal class action said.
Kerry Claxton alleged that V12 failed to implement reasonable data-security procedures, undertake adequate analysis and testing of its systems, or properly train its employees.
Information exposed in the breach included names and Social Security numbers, and may have included contact information and financial-account information, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
