Uvalde School Shooting Survivors Lose Officer Negligence Case

Survivors of a Texas mass school shooting can’t pursue claims against law enforcement agencies that failed to confront the gunman for more than an hour, a state appeals could ruled Wednesday, while going above and beyond to empathize with the families.

Three times in the opinion the San Antonio appeals court said state torts laws left them “no choice” but to rule against the survivors.

The five teachers and 20 students have no viable case, the justices said, because their injuries are traceable to the shooter and not the law enforcement agencies who mishandled the response.
