Users Advance Fandom ‘Pen Register’ Suit Over IP Address Sharing

Fandom Inc. must face a proposed class action alleging it violated the California Invasion of Privacy Act by installing web-tracking software on its gamestop.com website and sharing consumers’ IP addresses with third parties.

Plaintiff Vishal Shah plausibly alleged that he didn’t expect his IP address to be disclosed to the companies that provided the web-tracking software, and didn’t agree to the disclosure by visiting the gamestop.com website, Judge Rita F. Lin of the US District Court for the Northern District of California said.
