USC Sheds ‘Varsity Blues’ Dad’s Donation Fraud Lawsuit

A Los Angeles judge tossed a “Varsity Blues” parent’s fraud lawsuit against the University of Southern California, finding it barred by the statute of limitations.

Judge Holly J. Fujie said arguments that John Wilson, CEO of private equity firm Hyannis Port Capital Inc., wasn’t aware of possible fraud linked to his USC donation until 2021—despite being indicted alongside 49 others in 2019—were “strained,” in a tentative ruling that she adopted as final from the bench.
