USAA to Pay $3.25 Million to Settle Suit Over 2021 Data Breach

United Services Automobile Association would pay $3.25 million to settle a lawsuit alleging it negligently disclosed the driver’s license numbers of 22,646 consumers to cybercriminals under a proposed deal filed Wednesday in federal court.

Each member of the proposed class would be eligible for an equal share of the settlement fund, resulting in a gross recovery of $143 for each member, or 5.74% of the maximum statutory damages, according to the plaintiffs’ motion for preliminary approval of the deal.
