USA Cycling Beats Olympian’s Defamation Suit Over Suspension

USA Cycling won dismissal of defamation claims by a former Olympic athlete filed in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania for putting him on a list of suspended riders due to allegations of sexual misconduct and confirming the investigation to a reporter.

The Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017 provides USAC—the national governing body for bicycle racing in the U.S.—immunity for putting Martin Nothstein’s name on a list of suspended riders, the court said.
