US Steel Failed to Accommodate Pregnant Mine Worker, EEOC Says

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued US Steel Corp. for allegedly failing to accommodate a pregnant mine worker’s restrictions and later retaliating against her when she returned to work after a miscarriage.

The EEOC claims US Steel violated federal pregnancy accommodation laws when it forced a mobile equipment operator at its Minnesota iron mine to take short-term sickness and accident leave instead of providing reasonable accommodations, according to a complaint filed Dec. 19 in the US District Court for the District of Minnesota.
