The US is suing Homeworks Construction Inc. on behalf of the Environmental Protection Agency for allegedly violating lead-based paint safety regulations while performing renovation projects in Indiana and Michigan.
The US alleges that Homeworks Construction violated the Toxic Substances Control Act and the Renovation, Repair, and Painting Rule by failing to use at least one certified renovator, provide lead hazard information pamphlets, and maintain required records during at least 17 renovation projects in pre-1978 housing, primarily in South Bend, Ind., according to the complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Indiana.
