US Patent Office Escapes Patent Lawsuit From Inventor Brothers

A patent owner can’t maintain its infringement suit against the US Patent and Trademark Office after a federal judge said Friday that the legal issue the company was pushing was decided against it several years earlier.

Factor2 Multimedia Systems LLC, formed by inventor brothers Nader and Kamran Asghari-Kamrani, accused various PTO websites of infringing six patents through their use of two-factor authentication. The patents were related, however, to a two-factor authentication patent deemed invalid in a prior lawsuit the brothers filed against USAA in 2015.
