The US must renew its contract with a nonprofit providing legal assistance to reunify migrant families separated at the border, a California federal judge ordered.
US District Judge for the Southern District of California Judge Dana Sabraw ordered the US to keep working with the Acacia Center for Justice in a Thursday order. He found in June the government, by allowing its contract with Acacia to lapse without providing a meaningful alternative, breached its settlement obligations to engage a provider to help class members and their families apply for parole and work authorization.
