US Asks Court to Lift Pause on Trump Refugee Funding Order

A nationwide pause of President Donald Trump’s executive order suspending funds to refugee resettlement programs should be lifted, the Department of Justice told a federal court.

The US is likely to beat the challenge to the executive order because the president has broad discretion to suspend funds to any class of immigrants, it said in a motion Monday in the US District Court for the Western District of Washington.
