Texans harmed by blackouts during Winter Storm Uri in 2021 will lose a lawsuit unless they show electrical utilities could’ve reduced deaths and injuries while also adhering to orders to reduce power in specific areas, the state supreme court ruled Friday.
Customers are approved to re-plead their otherwise failed gross-negligence claims on the condition they assert that the utilities could’ve saved lives even as they complied with mandatory load-shed requirements, the justices said.
