Urban Outfitters Faces Discrimination Suit From Muslim Ex-Worker

A Black and Muslim former Urban Outfitters Inc. employee alleges the company violated her civil rights when it fired her for praying at work, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday.

Erika DeVaughn said that Urban Outfitters violated the provisions of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act precluding racial discrimination and retaliation, according to her complaint filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She is seeking various damages, attorneys’ fees, and court costs.
