United Parcel Service Inc. was hit with a federal lawsuit Monday by a former Black vice president who claims the logistics service company promoted a less qualified white woman to the same vice president position she had held.

Malika Terry’s complaint in the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia says UPS promoted a much less qualified white woman who Terry had trained. Several months after that promotion, UPS terminated Terry’s employment, saying there was no need for two people in that role, the complaint says.
