UPS Hit With Wrongful Death Suits Over Kentucky Cargo Jet Crash

Family members of two individuals who died from the crash of a United Parcel Service Inc. cargo plane last month sued the shipping company and the aircraft’s manufacturers—Boeing Co. and General Electric Co.—in a pair of lawsuits filed in Kentucky state court Wednesday.

The companies allegedly knew or should have known the MD-11F was unsafe to fly, according to the complaints filed in Jefferson Circuit Court. VT San Antonio Aerospace Inc., which allegedly performed maintenance on the plane prior to the crash, was also negligent in failing to adequately inspect the aircraft, the families claim.
