UPMC Ends Ex-Nurse’s Attempted Commitment Disability Bias Suit

University of Pittsburgh Medical Center resolved a disability discrimination suit from a nurse who alleged it attempted to involuntarily commit him.

Aaron Diamond said that a series of disabilities can cause him to appear inebriated. He said his supervisors knew or should’ve known this, and yet called for security and detained him inside the medical center’s Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. A neutral party told the US District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania Thursday that the case has been resolved.
