University of Texas, Professor Settle Pregnancy Suit Over Tenure

The University of Texas at Austin and an engineering professor settled her lawsuit in which a federal jury awarded her more than $3 million on claims that she was denied tenure because of her sex and pregnancies.

The $3 million emotional distress portion of Evdokia Nikolova’s March 14 trial win was cut by the US District Court for the Western District of Texas on Aug. 22 to $300,000 under the damages caps applicable in Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act cases.
