The University of Rochester failed to protect the personal information of more than 88,000 people that was exposed in a May data breach involving Progress Software’s MOVEit file-transfer application, a proposed federal class action said.
Progress Software announced in May that it had discovered a vulnerabilty in its MOVEit app—which is used by government agencies, businesses, and universities around the world—that had been present in the software at least since 2021. Data breaches involving the app have prompted a surge of class actions, including against Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America, Maximus Federal Services Inc., and Johns Hopkins University. ...
