University of Miami Must Face Bias Claims From Ex-Surgery Chair

University of Miami must face a jury trial over gender and race bias and retaliation claims from its medical school’s former surgeon-in-chief, a federal judge ruled.

Judge Roy K. Altman of the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida rejected the bulk of the school’s objections to the claims Omaida Velazquez made in a 2023 lawsuit.
