A federal appeals panel rejected college students’ Title IX claims alleging the University of Kentucky’s lack of varsity women’s teams for equestrian, field hockey, and lacrosse constitutes gender bias.
The university didn’t violate Title IX’s prohibition of sex discrimination in education because it didn’t find enough female students who were interested in and able to compete in these sports, the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit said in a Tuesday opinion.
