A University of Colorado campus’ Covid-19 vaccine mandate, which included certain religious exemptions, likely violated the First Amendment, the Tenth Circuit ruled in a reversal.
The university’s Anschutz campus implemented two policies. One allowed an exemption for religious beliefs but required an applicant to prove that their religion prohibited taking the vaccine. Christian Scientists and Jehovah’s Witnesses could clearly qualify for the exemption, the opinion by Judge Allison H. Eid said Tuesday for the US Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
