United HealthCare to Pay $2.5 Million to Settle Junk-Call Suit

United HealthCare Services Inc. will pay $2.5 million to settle allegations it made telemarketing calls to non-members in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, under a deal given initial approval in federal court.

The settlement fund would be distributed among the more than 12,100 class members with valid claims after deduction of attorneys’ fees, costs, a service award to lead plaintiff Frantz Samson, and administration costs, according to his motion for preliminary approval of the settlement.
