Union Pacific Seeks Cleanup of Contaminated California Property

Union Pacific Railroad Co. says two business owners should be held liable for contaminating its California property with degreasing and cleaning chemicals, as well as abandoned storage tanks, according to a complaint filed in federal district court.

Pollution at the San Jose property is spreading but can be abated, the railroad said. Union Pacific wants the court to order the business owners to address the costs of cleanup in a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
