Union Alleges Anticompetitive Practices at New York-Presbyterian

New York-Presbyterian Hospital unlawfully limits price competition in the general acute care inpatient services market, New York state’s largest grocery store worker union alleged in a proposed class action Monday.

The hospital system uses contract provisions with health insurance providers to charge “supracompetitive” prices and limit competition in the market, UFCW Local 1500 Welfare Fund said in their complaint. The union alleges NYP’s conduct violates the Sherman Act, the Donnelly Act, and common law prohibiting unjust enrichment.
