A digital video creator was hit with a copyright lawsuit from a company that searches for missing persons underwater, for allegedly posting work-for-hire footage to his YouTube channel without permission.
Josh Cantu did independent video production and camera work for Adventures with Purpose, which has more than three million followers on YouTube. His alleged agreements with AWP stipulated that he could post some AWP footage on his personal channel as long as it was presented in a “Behind the Scenes” format, but the company maintained the copyright to the raw footage and final cut.
