Ugg Says Steve Madden Copied Its Shoes in Latest Trademark Suit

Deckers Outdoor Corp. accused Steve Madden Ltd. of trademark infringement and unfair competition involving its Ugg slipper line, adding to its list of trademark suits filed in Los Angeles federal court that are linked to the fuzzy footwear.

The suit is over Steve Madden’s “Selena” mules, which allegedly copy Ugg’s “Tazz” slippers, according to the complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Central District of California. The complaint also singles out Steve Madden’s website search bar, where entering the word “Ugg” yields listings of footwear, including listings similar to the Tazz slippers.
