Udio AI Music Service Sued Over Copyright, Biometric Claims

Udio AI music-generation service was sued by independent music creators alleging the company used their works without permission to flood the market with AI-generated music in violation of their intellectual property rights.

The proposed class action is similar to copyright-infringement suits filed by the major music labels against Unchartered Labs Inc., the developer of Udio AI, and Suno Inc., another AI-music generator, but adds additional claims under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, which prohibits the collection of peoples’ biometric identifiers without their written permission.
