The University of California is facing a lawsuit alleging it targets pro-Palestinian speech and expression over the destruction of the Palestine Solidarity Encampment at UCLA.
University administrators failed to prevent a mob attack on the encampment that left twenty-five pro-Palestine protesters hospitalized and amounted to a “heckler’s veto” that shut down their protected speech, the complaint from UCLA protesters filed Tuesday in California Superior Court, Los Angeles County says.
The free-speech lawsuit comes after a series of labor complaints filed by student unions over university reactions to protests demanding that schools cut investment ties to Israel and weapons manufacturers.
