UC Faculty Likely to Win Block on Trump Funding Coercion Threats

Evidence that the Trump administration is withholding hundreds of millions of dollars in federal grant funds to coerce schools in the University of California system to silence faculty speech is “overwhelming,” a federal judge said Thursday.

Judge Rita F. Lin of the US District Court for the Northern District of California at a hearing Thursday said the unions, led by the American Association of University Professors, “have submitted overwhelming evidence that the administration is publicly punishing ‘woke’ and ‘left’ viewpoints” at schools in the UC system.
