Uber’s Bid to Escape FTC Suit Hinges on Online Shopping Law

Uber Technologies Inc.‘s attempt to fend off a deceptive subscription cancellation lawsuit from the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general will turn on a decade-old internet shopping law.

The Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act, passed by Congress in 2010, was the main topic of discussion at a Thursday hearing on Uber’s motion to dismiss the suit, which alleges the company employs a difficult and time-consuming cancellation process for its Uber One subscription.
