Uber Wants Non-California Driver Sexual Assault Cases Dismissed

Uber’s bid to send some of the more than 1,000 cases filed in California state court alleging riders were sexually assaulted by drivers in instances that occurred outside of California was taken under advisement Wednesday.

San Francisco Superior Court Judge Ethan Schulman, on whether his tentative ruling to dismiss the cases for not being filed in the proper forum is in the interest of justice, said after a 90-minute hearing, “it seems to me I have to struggle with this a while longer.” Lawsuits alleging drivers sexually assaulted riders were consolidated in San Francisco, Uber Technology Inc.’s hometown where plaintiffs ...
