Uber Wants Court Halt on Mandatory Info Disclosures to App Users

Uber Technologies wants a US judge to stop Colorado from requiring the ride hail service to provide riders and drivers mileage and earnings information the company calls either misleading or distracting on the road, contending the government-compelled speech violates the company’s First Amendment rights.

Uber’s lawsuit, filed at the US District Court for the District of Colorado on Jan. 11, challenges two state laws. One, the Transportation Network Company Transparency Bill, set to take effect in part on Feb. 1, requires Uber to tell riders how much money a driver received for their purchase, and tell drivers the fare, ...
