Uber Seeks Stay in Sex Assault Case While 9th Circuit Mulls Writ

Uber Technologies Inc. struggled Friday to convince a judge to stay dozens of lawsuits alleging rideshare drivers sexually assaulted passengers while an appeals court decides whether to take the unprecedented step of reversing the US Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation.

Uber on Dec. 22 asked the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to vacate the panel’s order centralizing cases from across the country into the federal court in San Francisco, where the company is headquartered.
