Uber Proposal to Cap Contingency Fees Faces Wary Nevada Justices

Nevada Supreme Court justices during oral arguments Wednesday picked at aspects of a ballot measure proposed by Uber Technologies Inc. that would dramatically limit lawyers’ contingency fees in civil cases.

The justices noted some confusing wording in the text voters see but voiced wariness about getting involved in a policy dispute. As Uber stares down a volley of sexual assault claims from passengers, the company is attempting to cap lawyer contingency fees at 20% with the introduction of a ballot measure.
