Uber Negligence Case Must Be Settled in Arbitration, Court Rules

Uber Technologies Inc. successfully argued to an Illinois appellate court that negligence claims against it must be settled in arbitration and not by a trial court.

The mother of a Uber driver killed in Illinois while working sued the company for negligence under Illinois law. But Uber claimed the laws of Indiana, not Illinois, applied to the incident because the driver agreed to Uber’s Platform Access Agreement (PAA) when he resided in Indiana.
