Uber Makes Subscription Cancellations Too Difficult, FTC Alleges

Uber Technologies Inc. traps consumers into monthly subscriptions for its Uber One delivery services without providing an easy way to cancel them, the US Federal Trade Commission said in a lawsuit filed Monday.

The ride-hailing company “has instituted a cancellation process that is difficult, time-consuming, and far from simple,” according to the complaint filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.

Uber One subscriptions are $9.99 per month and the company says they help users save on ride bookings and food deliveries. The company employs multiple strategies to enroll customers into the program including push notifications ...
