Uber Driver Gets New EEOC Boost in Customer-Ratings Bias Appeal

An Asian American man got a fresh assist from the US government in his quest for full Ninth Circuit review of his lawsuit alleging Uber Technologies Inc.'s reliance on customer ratings to decide which drivers to deactivate discriminates based on race.

A three-judge panel held the former driver to a too-demanding standard when it rejected his appeal of a lower court’s dismissal of the proposed class suit, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said in a filing Monday.
