Uber Technologies Inc. won its bid to compel individual arbitration of claims in a lawsuit alleging the company violated state and federal laws by summarily deactivating and rejecting drivers with criminal histories.
The US District Court for the Southern District of New York declined to grant Uber’s request to dismiss the would-be class action, however, deciding instead to stay plaintiff Job Golightly’s claims pending arbitration.
Golightly’s lawsuit alleges Uber violated the New York City Human Rights Law and the federal and New York Fair Credit Reporting Acts.
