Uber Assault Plaintiff Drops Negligence Claim in Second Trial

Uber Technologies Inc. won’t face claims that it acted negligently or designed a defective product from a woman alleging she was sexually assaulted by her driver in North Carolina in the second federal case slated for trial in multidistrict litigation against the ride-sharing giant.

She also won’t pursue punitive damages meant to punish Uber for its conduct, according to a Wednesday court filing submitted by her attorneys and Uber.
