A U.S. couple may proceed in Massachusetts against the U.S. owner of a boat that hit theirs in Greece, severely injuring the wife and causing their boat to sink, the First Circuit said Monday.
The appeals court remanded their suit, reversing a dismissal on the basis that Greece is the appropriate place to litigate.
Cindy Curtis and Demetre Cambouris were on Cambouris’ boat, the M/V Marina, when it was struck by the M/V Galani.
At the time, Dimitrios Faroupos was at the Galani’s helm. Faroupos worked for its owner, Nicholas Galakatos, at Galakatos’s summer home in Greece.
