Environmental groups dropped their lawsuit in a Washington, D.C., federal court after the Biden administration revoked Twin Metals Minnesota LLC’s mining rights near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northeast Minnesota.
The Wilderness Society, Center for Biological Diversity, and several other groups and outdoors companies challenged the federal government’s environmental review of the project. The Bureau of Land Management originally rejected the company’s application to renew its leases in 2012, but the agency reversed that decision in 2019.
