The US Department of Labor’s closure of 99 of its Job Corps training centers will cause thousands of at-risk young people to lose their places to live and health care access, program students say in a suit filed Wednesday.
The closures by DOL and Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer weren’t the product of “reasoned decisionmaking,” and violated the Administrative Procedure Act by failing to consider “less draconian alternatives” to address the agency’s concerns, alleged seven Job Corps students in their proposed class action filed with the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
