Two law professors succeeded in blocking a Trump administration executive order that imposed sanctions on “certain persons” affiliated with the International Criminal Court.
The 2025 order used the exact same language as a 2020 order that another judge blocked and violates the professors’ First Amendment rights, Judge Jesse M. Furman of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York said on Wednesday.
“In law, as in life, two wrongs do not make a right,” Furman said as he ruled that the 2025 order is unconstitutional because it regulates the professors’ protected speech.
