Trump TikTok Ban Reversal Sparks Doubt Among Hill Republicans

Senior Republicans on Capitol Hill reiterated their support for banning TikTok and voiced skepticism about President-elect Donald Trump’s recent promise to save the social media app, which faces a fast-approaching deadline to find a new owner.

“I supported the law Congress passed, and I believe TikTok should either be sold so that it is no longer controlled by the Chinese Communist government, or it should cease operations in the United States,” Ted Cruz (R-Texas), a major Trump ally who’s poised to chair the Senate Commerce Committee in the next Congress, said this week.
