The US Agency for Global Media must disburse funds appropriated to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty for the rest of the fiscal year, a federal judge ruled Friday.
USAGM has “stonewalled” Radio Free Europe on contract negotiations, presenting it with novel grant conditions that give the network “no option but to either close shop” or accept terms that will define its ability to operate independently, Judge Royce C. Lamberth said. As a result, the US District Court for the District of Columbia judge partially granted the broadcast netork a preliminary injunction.
