The Trump administration’s challenge to the City of Los Angeles sanctuary city law has been thrown out by a US judge.
Judge Fernando Olguin granted the city’s motion to dismiss the Justice Department’s allegations that Los Angeles violates the “intergovernmental immunity doctrine” by regulating and discriminating against the federal government via an an ordinance barring city resources from being used in aiding federal immigration enforcement.
“This order reinforces the well-established principle that local governments have the authority to decide how to use their personnel and resources,” Los Angeles City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto said in a statement announcing the ruling. ...
