The Department of Housing and Urban Development can’t cancel dozens of federal housing grants for now, a Massachusetts trial court judge ruled, citing a recent First Circuit ruling.
Fair housing groups challenged the February cancellation of 78 grants that they claim helped them assist people experiencing housing discrimination as part of a congressionally mandated program. It’s one of many lawsuits challenging funding cuts, contract and grant freezes, and other moves to shrink the size of the federal government being taken by Elon Musk’s government efficiency team.
