Troutman Pepper, Black Lawyer to Faceoff at Reprisal, Bias Trial

A Black former Troutman Pepper Locke attorney will get a trial on her allegations that race bias affected her billable hours and her discrimination complaints caused her firing.

The US District Court for the District of Columbia in an order Tuesday otherwise granted summary judgment to the firm, previously known as Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP, and partner Brian J. Iwashyna on Gita Sankano’s claims under 42 U.S.C. §1981, Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and the District of Columbia Human Rights Act.
